A federal appeals court reinstated the Biden administration’s policy on coronavirus vaccination mandates for large private businesses, reversing a stay by another court that had suspended the mandate. The ruling was quickly appealed, continuing a battle that will likely be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court, which is likely to have the final say over the rules set to take effect January 4.
Issued by the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the temporary standard (ETS) states that employers having more than 100 employees must develop, implement and enforce a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy that requires workers to be fully vaccinated or test weekly with mandatory masking. There are exceptions for employees who do not work on-site.
